The Ritz Paris is the version of a palace hotel people mean when they say the phrase. Place Vendôme outside, thick carpets inside, and staff who generally know the difference between attentive and hovering.

It reopened after a long renovation with the same name and a cleaner finish. It is still formal and expensive. It is not trying to be a design hotel with a story about exposed brick. You come because you want the old Paris hotel fantasy delivered without irony.

The public rooms feel composed even when busy. That composure is the product. Arrive in trainers after a budget flight and you will feel the dress code in the air even when nobody says anything.

Rooms and feel

Rooms are polished and quiet by Paris standards. You pay for hush as much as for furniture. Suites feel like small apartments. Standard rooms are still a proper hotel room, not a closet with a hat stand.

Expect heavy curtains, solid soundproofing relative to the street, and bathrooms that take the stay seriously. Courtyard views are quieter. Vendôme glimpses cost more calm.

Service is high-touch. Housekeeping is precise. Nothing feels casual. If you want to sprawl in loungewear in the lobby with a laptop, go somewhere else.

Food, bar, and location

The bar is half the reason people book. Dining is strong when you want a closed-loop evening and do not want to cross the city for dinner.

Outside the door you are in the 1st: shopping, museums, tourists. The hotel softens that. It does not erase it. The Tuileries and the Seine are minutes away.

Use the Ritz as a quiet base for a celebratory weekend. Two or three nights is the sweet spot. It is palace-hotel luxury, not a hotel-casino; for casino-square energy you want Monte-Carlo, not Place Vendôme.
